About the Georgia Youth Digital Safety Institute
At the Georgia Youth Digital Safety Institute (GYDSI), we believe that digital literacy, ethics, and safety are the foundation of leadership in the 21st century. Founded by a coalition of educators, law enforcement professionals, and technology leaders, GYDSI works to empower youth, families, and educators through actionable education, advocacy, and community partnerships.
Kimberley A. Potts
president, co-founder
Kimberley A. Potts, president and co-founder of the Georgia Youth Digital Safety Institute (GYDSI), brings a powerful blend of frontline experience and family insight to youth digital safety. A former state super-maximum prison officer, she witnessed firsthand how manipulation, exploitation, and broken trust often begin long before crimes are committed — inspiring her to focus on early prevention through education. As both a mother and 30-years of advocating for children safety, she uses her personal experience raising a family in the digital age to connect authentically with parents and youth. Kimberley helped lead Scouting America’s “Scout Me In” initiative, promoting inclusion and integrating digital trust into the Scouting experience. Behind the scenes, she has worked in family law and with local and state officials to strengthen community and legal responses to online threats, while also dedicating over 10 years of service to the Tri-State Human Trafficking Taskforce, a partnership among state attorney general offices, law enforcement, and community activists. Her leadership at GYDSI unites justice, education, and prevention — empowering families to build safer, more resilient digital lives.
